The New Sense

Bit hungover. I know I shouldn't be drinking, but I only had two glasses of wine. It's like I'm out of practice or something. Maybe it's my pregnant body telling me to cut it out.
Yesterday B— joined me at Olga's after my shift. It was just like old times. Even Olga was there, though complaining about the mugginess. I guess the Norwegian constitution can cope with a litre of vodka a day but when the humidity's over 70% they start to wilt like Edelweisses in the jungle (that sounds good, but I don't think an Edelweiss is Norwegian. Oh well — it probably won't even sound good tomorrow!)
B— was so sweet — he's gotten hold of two tickets for the Bob Dylan concert on Monday night. I'd mentioned ages ago that I was keen on seeing him, but I'd completely forgotten about it with all the shit that's been going on. Dylan's one of those artists I guess I'd like to say I've seen, rather than wanting to go 'cause I'm a fan. At least I've heard his music plenty of times in the bar. I talked to Kelly today and she didn't really know who he is! "Some old guy who sounds like a donkey," she said and couldn't even name a single one of his songs. I guess I wouldn't know much about him either if it wasn't for Olga's. And I guess he does sound like a donkey.
We went for a nice stroll around the neighbourhood this afternoon. I felt like I was floating, that's how free I feel. B— was back to his funny self:
"Moose have a distribution problem. On the bus to BC and back last month I saw loads of ads for them at the side of the road, but there were no moose stores anywhere."
And: "You know what Canada's official motto should be? 'Everything in moderation, eh?' "
That just cracked me up. It's funny 'cause it's true. On the whole I'm proud to be Canadian. We're the masters of balance. 'Canadian extremist' is an oxymoron. When we rule the world we'll be really nice. We'll probably let someone else do the actual ruling. Hey, maybe that's what's happening right now!
We sat in Second Cup and drank those granité slushies for a while. I'm so happy today. I'm in love with B— , and I'm happy to be having a baby with him. He's a special guy in every sense of the word.
This evening we're going out on a date. Dinner at Tasso's. Good Greek stuff. Tomorrow we're going to the St-Laurent exhibit at the Pointe-à-Callière museum. I'm trying to immerse B— in Montreal culture.
